This qualification reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and guidance to others within defined guidelines.
Candidates have a total of 2 years to complete the Diploma, however, based on a study commitment of 15 to 20 hours a week, candidates are able to complete this in 12 months.
Work functions in the occupational areas where this qualification may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Refer to the FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the relevant regulator for specific guidance on requirements. Thiss qualification includes units that comprise an approved Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) course in Australian taxation law and commercial law. Persons seeking registration with the TPB should check current registration requirements with the Board.
Entry requirements for this qualification includes the following study that must be completed prior to commencing FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting.
Completion of the following six units, or their equivalent, which constitute the requirements for the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set:
* FNSACC311 Process financial transactions and extract interim report
* FNSACC312 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
* FNSACC408 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
* FNSACC416 Set up and operate a computerised accounting system
* FNSTPB401 Complete business activity and instalment activity statements
* FNSTPB402 Establish and maintain payroll systems;
Completion of FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent;
Completion of FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent.
A possible training pathway for a student completing this qualification could be the following:
* BSB60215 Advanced Diploma of Business
* FNS60217 Advanced Diploma of Accounting
These qualifications represent a logical pathway regardless of whether the RTO offers the qualifications.
After achieving the FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting, candidates may pathway into the Advanced Diploma of Accounting (FNS60215) or an Advanced Diploma within the BSB Training Package and/or other industry area.
‘Course Credits’ may be gained for further study on completion of this qualification.
