Rodney has in excess of 30 years experience in the construction and real estate industry and has been involved in property and facilities management, agency, valuation, development and the capital markets in the commercial, industrial, education and retail property sectors. He has a diverse range of experience and his interests cover a variety of real estate issues including:
Property and construction sectors in which Rodney has consulted and has specific knowledge include commercial offices and business parks, retail and shopping malls, social and affordable housing, student and key-worker accommodation, retirement villages and assisted living complexes.
After immigrating to Australia in 1994, he was invited to join Arthur Andersen’s Real Estate and Hospitality Services group in 1995 as a senior manager and was subsequently appointed a Global Partner in 1999. During this period Rodney led the Sydney practice until the amalgamation of Andersen and Ernst & Young in Australia in 2002, at which time Rodney took on the leadership of the Ernst & Young Real Estate Advisory Services in Sydney. Rodney has set up Property Beyond Pty Ltd with a partner Mark Daniel in 2004, with the focus based on strategic advice supporting the Corporate Real Estate ‘customers’ of the property industry whose strategic needs have generally been neglected by developers and property owners.
Rodney set up the CoreNet MCR programme in Australia and New Zealand in 2003 and co-ordinated the program as the Region Learning Director until 2008. Rodney is also a guest lecturer in Corporate Real Estate and Facilities Management at the University of New South Wales and Sydney University. Rodney is a regular columnist for industry journals including FM Facility Management and the PCA’s Property Australia.
