Malcolm Harrild


Malcolm Harrild is a Director of Forbrook Group, a consultancy specialising in property and facility management and issues.Malcolm has worked in the property sectors of the international computer industry and the banking and property investment industries in Australia. He has also consulted to Federal, State and Local government and the private housing sector. He is currently involved with a Sydney Local Government Authority where, after project managing a Town Centre Public Private Partnership and a significant Voluntary Planning Agreement for three years he is now supporting a major civic precinct redevelopment project. His broad experience includes change management, project control of fit-outs and relocations, strategic property and accommodation analysis, space planning, workplace design, facility management outsourcing and project management.

His experience ranges across distribution centres, retail, call centres, major commercial offices and public service organisations. From helping establish IFMA Australia as a Founder Director in 1988 he has continued his professional association through the Facilities Management Association where he worked for several years as a mentor and assessor on its Accreditation Program.Prior to relocating to Australia Malcolm worked primarily in the life assurance industry in UK where he established and managed one of the first major open-plan offices in the country, culminating in accommodation design and project management that achieved the first commendation for an office building in the Financial Times Architecture at Work awards.

As a Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management, Member of British Institute of Facilities Management, Certified Facility Manager and professional Trainer, Malcolm is keen to ensure that Facilities Management, in all its aspects, is recognised as a profession in Australia. To this end he is actively involved in the professional development of facilities managers through his involvement with fmedge.
